How Specific is the Split SARS-CoV-2 IgM and IgG Tests?
Clinical specificity is defined as the ability to correctly identify those patients who were not infected.
- Using confirmed SARS-CoV-2 negative specimens, the clinical specificity of the SARS-CoV-2 IgG test was estimated at 97.3%.
- Using confirmed SARS-CoV-2 negative specimens, the clinical specificity of the SARS-CoV-2 IgM test was estimated at 97.5%.
For optimum specificity, the SARS-CoV-2 IgM and IgG tests specifically use the N and S proteins of the virus as antigens for the IgM and IgG antibodies.
