CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19)

Patient’s Choice Lab is dedicated to serving healthcare providers in Arizona for over 10 years.  Through our exclusive relationship with Labtech Diagnostics, we are now able to offer both COVID-19 PCR and Blood Antibody Testing options with the quality of a CLIA CAP High-Complexity Laboratory behind them.

COVID-19 TESTING OPTIONS

Important Accreditation and Certification information about COVID-19 testing:  All COVID-19 testing offered at Patient’s Choice Lab has received FDA Emergency Use Authorization and is sent to Labtech Diagnostics, which is a CAP Accredited, High-Complexity Laboratory.  CAP Accredited Laboratories require all testing be validated to meet or exceed the rigorous quality standards set by CAP (College of American Pathologist), prior to releasing the testing to providers or patients.   Please see our Accreditations and Certifications page for additional information.

FDA Authorization Page
The antibody (serology) tests are intended for use as an aid in identifying individuals with an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2, indicating recent or prior infection. Results are for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are generally detectable in blood several days after initial infection, although the duration of time antibodies are present post-infection is not well characterized. At this time, it is unknown for how long antibodies persist following infection and if the presence of antibodies confers protective immunity. Individuals may have detectable virus present for several weeks following seroconversion. Negative results do not preclude acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. If acute infection is suspected, molecular testing for SARS-CoV-2 is necessary. The antibody test should not be used to diagnose acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. False positive results for the antibody test may occur due to cross-reactivity from pre-existing antibodies or other possible causes.

Provider FAQ

Yes.  We can also pick-up samples.  Healthcare providers can collect the samples in-office and have our courier pick them up or have patient’s schedule online for Labs2Go Drive-Up testing.  If you do not have an account with Patient’s Choice Lab, please contact our Client Services team at 480-788-4292.

No, we do not offer any point of care testing.  All COVID-19 tests ordered through Patient’s Choice Lab are sent to our CAP Accredited Laboratory, Labtech Diagnostics.   Our RT-PCR (Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction) test has an Express option in the Phoenix Metro with next-night results (please see COVID-19 Results Timetable for details).

Please see our list of accepted insurances on our “Insurance” tab.  We do not accept AHCCCS at this time.

How Specific is the  Split SARS-CoV-2 IgM and IgG Tests?
Clinical specificity is defined as the ability to correctly identify those patients who were not infected.

  • Using confirmed SARS-CoV-2 negative specimens, the clinical specificity of the SARS-CoV-2 IgG test was estimated at 97.3%.
  • Using confirmed SARS-CoV-2 negative specimens, the clinical specificity of the SARS-CoV-2 IgM test was estimated at 97.5%.

For optimum specificity, the SARS-CoV-2 IgM and IgG tests specifically use the N and S proteins of the virus as antigens for the IgM and IgG antibodies.

  • Using confirmed SARS-CoV-2 negative specimens, the clinical specificity of the SARS-CoV-2 IgM test was estimated at 97.5%.
